What is different on Sol

Everything Sol changes from an official Ragnarok Online renewal server that a player runs into, one line each, with a link to the page that explains it. If you know kRO, SMRO or muhRO, start here.

Leveling

What The Sol way More
EXP rates You choose your own base and job EXP rate per character, 1x to 100x, with @baserate and @jobrate. You are asked at your first login Rates
Advanced Looting Characters that level slowly get a permanent drop bonus at base level 230: up to +50 % at 1x, none at 91x and above Rates
Drops and death Drops are 20x, death costs no EXP, and the level-gap penalty on drops is removed Rates
No rebirth The Job Master takes you from Novice to High 1st class, then transcendent 2nd, 3rd and 4th. Characters that are not transcendent upgrade in place Services
Booster A 1x challenge for players who want to level slowly: a pack at every milestone and a coin shop. You cannot change your rate Booster
Free leveling gear Paradise gear is handed out free at 10, 45 and 100, and can be taken again Paradise and Eden
Inventory and weight Every character has 200 inventory slots, and Enlarge Weight Limit adds 5,000 a level (up to +50,000). A Gym Pass can be bought for Hunting Coins Services

Money and rewards

Drop beams Cards drop with a coloured light beam: purple for cards, red for MVP and boss cards Item name changes

The hub and the towns

What The Sol way More
The hub @hub takes you to one place that holds a copy of every gear NPC (exchanges, reforms, refiners, enchanters) grouped in labelled rows, and none of them needs a story quest Hub
Town services Free healer and buffs, ten extra storages (@storage 1-10), stat reset, stylist and card remover in nine towns Services
No story gates Nothing you need to obtain, exchange, reform, refine or enchant requires quest progress Hub

Content and gear

What The Sol way More
Restored content The server software lacks some official content. Sol added Abyss Lake 4F, the Clock Tower basement, the Episode 19 fields, Thanatos Tower floors 9 to 12, the Tomb of Remorse, the Geffen Night Arena, the Constellation Tower, Varmundt's Biosphere and its two Depths, EDDA Bio Laboratory, and the Garden of Time's materials Gear lines, Progression guide
Enchant upgrades The newer gear's random and perfect upgrade buttons in the Enchant window work Enchant upgrades
Etel Dust everywhere above 200 Etel Dust (grading) drops at 0.75 % from every monster on the level 200+ hunting maps (Thanatos floors 9-12, Abyss Lake 4F, the Episode 19 fields, Nifflheim and Amicitia dungeons, the Varmundt fields and Depths, the Garden of Time, the Clock Tower basement), not only at level 240 Hunting
Equipment lines Every gear line has one page with its level, where it comes from, what a full set costs and how long it takes Your path
Item names A few hundred item names and descriptions were cleaned up so that the client and the server agree Item name changes

The game window

What The Sol way More
Skill numbers Every skill's description in the skill window ends with Sol's numbers in blue: variable cast, fixed cast, after-cast delay and cooldown, per level. They are the base values, before your DEX, INT, gear and buffs reduce them -
Monster name plates Pointing at a monster shows two lines: [Boss] Eddga Lv65 (Fire 1 - HP: 100%) over Brute - Large [DEF: 166, MDEF: 70]: Boss tag (MVPs included), name, level, element, HP percent (updated as it changes), race, size, DEF and MDEF. Needs the Sol smartcast.dll (it ships with the Sol client; name_lines=1 in smartcast.ini). @mobinfo off turns this off for your character, @mobinfo on back on Commands, Smartcast
Skill points Raising a skill of your current job while the previous job's skills still lack points no longer fails silently: the game says how many more points the previous tree needs -
Deleting a character Deleted at once (no 24-hour wait); the box asks you to type CONFIRM instead of a birthdate. A character in a party or guild still has to leave it first -

What you will not find

Some items have no source on Sol yet: Time Gap weapons, Glacier armor, costume stones, MVP pets, the roulette and a few more. The list, with the reason for each, is on Not available yet.
